Is POM really wonderful? Yes. Why do you care? Because free radicals damage the endothelium. Free radicals come from a number of environmental sources, including tobacco smoke! And also from fried foods, grilled red meat, and cured deli-style meats, bacon, sausages, etc. The damage contributes to diabetes, heart disease, and more. Here is a list of sources, take your pick. Now for the good news: Antioxidants repair that damage. And on the list of powerful antioxidants, find pomegranate juice, dark chocolate, and cranberries, blueberries, raspberries and lingonberries too. Lingonberries are close cousins of cranberries and lingonberry preserves can be found in really good specialty stores or at IKEA. Check out Top Ten Antioxidant Foods. So it's worth paying for organic raspberries and pomegranate juice, etc. Good to know.
