Poker players, fear not! ACE is short for an angiotensin-converting enzyme. Angiotensin is a hormone that causes vaso constriction! Reducing the width of blood vessels and so increasing blood pressure. Not good. Enter the need for ACE inhibitors. ACE inhibitors " widen, or dilate, your blood vessels. That increases the amount of blood your heart pumps and lowers blood pressure." — WebMDSo in the battle to keep your heart from overworking, another drug gets into the game: a beta-blocker. which keeps adrenaline under control! Adrenal gets you ready to run from danger! Your heart quickens. That can be bad on a continual basis, so Metoprolol (or another named beta-blocker) gets put on your list of meds, all to keep your pulse down and blood pressure lower. But as I always say, eat some beets! Not instead, but in addition if you use a proscribed drug.
