"Prediabetes means that your blood sugar level is higher than normal but not yet high enough to be type 2 diabetes... Prediabetes generally has no signs or symptoms!" – Mayo ClinicPresumably you're reading this because you know you are prediabetic. You're lucky! If you take some time to read the several descriptions of the problems you might still avoid. Perhaps you will be inspired to do everything you can and increase your efforts to eat right, lose weight, and be sure to visit your doctors for check-ups. This includes an ophthalmologist since the PCP can't do much about inspecting your eyes. With a low A1c number (6 to 7) you might still have something going wrong with your vision. You do NOT want to let this get away from you. Some of us started diabetes with an A1c over 10, but we have managed to drop back to under 7. Does this mean we are now pre diabetic? I don't think so. But it seems you should be able to drop a full point with a little effort. Can those of us in the 6.5+ group still drop into the under 6 club? We are trying. Good luck to us all.

Knowing family history is important too. I started having blood work up's in my early 30's due to family history and became prediabetic in my mid/late 30's. If it runs in your family it's good to have your numbers checked annually.

being on different meds for blood pressure etc can have a side effect oh higher glucose numbers. Best test to have done is a glucose tolerance test
